Membership Information

So many reasons to join the Junior League of Montgomery!

The Junior League of Montgomery is composed of over 700 women volunteers. Our membership includes executives, community leaders, entrepreneurs, mothers, and a host of professional women from diverse backgrounds. Join us in fulfilling our mission of promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and creating community impact through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.

Our New Member Open House is held in the Spring of each year. If you are interested in joining Montgomery's premier volunteer organization, please keep watching this page for our Member Interest Form!  During our Open House you will receive information and materials related to the League's membership benefits, requirements, and expectations. Benefits of Membership

Membership Requirements

Any woman may join who meets these requirements:

  • Has a strong interest in voluntarism;
  • Has a proven commitment to community service;
  • Has an interest in developing her potential for voluntary community participation;
  • Has reached 23 years of age by June 1 of the League year in which Provisional year will begin;
  • Lives within 35 miles of the  Montgomery area, and not in a county that is designated as an admission area for another Junior League.

Become a Member

How to join the Junior League of Montgomery:

  • Have a sponsor who is an eligible JLM member;
  • Complete and return the Provisional Sponsor & Agreement Form by the stated deadline;
  • Pay Provisional dues of $198.00.

During your Provisional Year you will:

  • Learn about the Junior League of Montgomery;
  • Train to become one of our volunteers in the community;
  • Meet wonderful women who are interested in serving their neighbors and community.

Obligations during the  Provisional Year  include:

  • Complete the entire Provisional course;
  • Attend General Membership Meetings;
  • Volunteer your time at the Holiday Market and Rummage Sale (or other Spring Fundraiser); 
  • Complete a mini-placement;
  • Buy Holiday Market tickets that can be sold to family and friends;
  • Volunteer at Taste of the River Region event;
  • Buy Shop, Save, Serve passes (or meet quota for other Spring Fundraiser) that can be sold to family and friends.

How to become an Active member:

  • Complete the entire Provisional course;
  • Pay annual dues.

Obligations of an Active Member:

  • Attend three General Membership Meetings per year;
  • Attend two Education & Training Meetings per year;
  • Pay annual dues; 
  • Complete one Placement per year;
  • Complete Placement sign-up process in the Spring;
  • Complete a total of 16 volunteer hours at the Holiday Market and Rummage Sale (or other Spring Fundraiser);
  • Purchase $40.00 worth of Holiday Market tickets that can be sold to family and friends;
  • Donate $50.00 worth of rummage to Rummage Sale or meet quota for alternating Spring fundraiser.
