PRESIDENT: MITZI COLE
Mitzi Cole, originally from Madison, Wisconsin, is the first African American woman of color to serve as President in the League’s 93 year history. A Montgomery resident since 1999, Mitzi received her Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management from Troy State University, where was inducted into the Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society, and she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Arts from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
A member of the Junior League of Montgomery since 2009, Mitzi has served the League as President-elect, Membership Council VP, Operations Council VP, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, and Impact Alabama Placement Chair. She has completed Ready. Set. Geaux!, Impact Alabama, and Taste of the River Region placements. Mitzi was recognized as one of the League’s 2014 ‘Women to Watch.’
Outside of the League, Mitzi has been an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® for 20 years. Currently a General Member of the Sorority, while a member of the Montgomery chapter, she served as the Corresponding Secretary, Protocol Chairman, secretary and Chairman of Ivy Foundation of Montgomery, Alabama, and served as Chairman for the 2016 Alabama Statewide Cluster. In September 2014, she was appointed to the position of Area Cluster Coordinator by the South Eastern Regional Director. She has served on the Board of Directors for Hands On River Region, River Region United Way and Girls Scouts of Southern Alabama. She is a member of the 2000 Leadership Selma Class and the 2013 Leadership Montgomery Class.
In her spare time Mitzi enjoys going to boot camp, doing yoga, reading and shopping.
Mitzi and her husband Lawrence have a son, Clay.
PRESIDENT-ELECT: JENNIFER ROGERS
Jennifer Bolen Rogers, originally from New Orleans Louisiana, lives in Montgomery with her husband Brian and their three children Samuel, Harrison and Frances Ann. She works with a grant from University of Alabama Birmingham for College and Career Readiness. Jennifer completed her undergraduate degree at Louisiana Tech and received a master’s degree from Auburn University at Montgomery.
Jennifer has served on various fundraising committees such as: Holiday Market, Rummage Sale including chairing the event, Decorator Show House, Fund Development Committee, 90th Anniversary Committee, Shop, Save, Serve and Fundraising Council VP. She has also served on the Community Research Committee, Placement Chair and Co-Chair and DHR Foster Teens Room Renovation, House To House and Community Council VP. Jennifer has received the “Women to Watch” award, In League Volunteer of the Year, and been apart of two Community Placements of the Year and three In-League Placements of the year.
Jennifer is active in her children’s school PTC, chairing several events and helping build and renovate two playgrounds along with the current Capitol Campaign for the new gym. She has also served on the Montgomery Catholic Strategic Planning Committee. Jennifer and her husband Brian, enjoy watching their children play sports; participate in school events and ballet programs. Each have special God given talents and keep them busy! However, as a family they enjoy traveling as much as they can for football, family events and of course Mardi Gras
COMMUNICATIONS VP: HANNAH HAWK
Hannah Hawk is the Manager of Public Affairs for the Montgomery County Commission. Before stepping into her role in public relations, she was an anchor and reporter for WSFA 12 News bringing the latest stories to south central Alabama for nearly eight years. It was at the news station where she met her sweetheart, Caleb. The two have one son, Lane, and one fur baby, Callie Mae.
Hannah hails from the Smokey mountains of Tennessee and moved to Montgomery to attend Huntingdon College. She graduated magna cum laude in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Studies.
She admits she never imagined staying in Alabama after she graduated, but she fell in love with not only her husband but the Capital City. She believes it’s important to get involved and become active within the community in order to help make Montgomery become an even better place. Hannah is grateful and humbled to serve as this year’s Communications Council VP. Previously she served as Publicity Chair and Social Media Chair.
COMMUNITY COUNCIL VP: AMY CAPPS
Amy Capps, originally from Noblesville, Indiana, is a graduate of Indiana State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications. She moved to Montgomery in 2004 for law school and has called it home ever since. With over 15 years of nonprofit and fundraising experience, she is the Executive Director for the Autauga Education Foundation.
Amy has been a member of the Junior League of Montgomery since 2009. She has held many leadership positions including Shamrock Shuffle Chair, 90th Anniversary Celebration Co-Chair, and most recently the Community Research Chair. In addition to serving on various Holiday Market committees, Amy has also served on several community placements, but her favorite was the opportunity to give of her time and talent to multiple League and community philanthropies through what was once the Community Sampler Committee. She enjoyed getting to learn about and assist with each of the League’s community partners that year.
Amy is a graduate of Emerge Torchbearers Class IV, has served as an Ambassador for the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce and Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce, a Former President of Executive Women International Montgomery Chapter, and a previous Board member of the Capital City Club’s Inner Circle Council.
Amy is married to Shaun Capps who is a Civil Engineer for the Federal Highway Administration and they welcomed their first child, a daughter, in August of 2017. They enjoy watching movies, cooking, traveling, and Auburn Football.
FINANCE COUNCIL VP: ADRIAN COOPER
Adrian graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration specializing in Accounting. She earned a Master of Accountancy Degree from the University of Alabama and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). She currently serves as the accountant for Trinity Presbyterian School.
Adrian has been an active member of the Junior League of Montgomery since 2010 and has served on various committees including Taste of the River Region, Finance Council, and the Family Sunshine Center.
Adrian is married to Pat Cooper who is a Senior Manager at Jackson Thornton. They have two children, Jackson (7) and Coleman (5) who attend Trinity Presbyterian School. A member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Adrian is active in the Children’s Ministry where she serves as a Sunday School teacher.
FUNDRAISING COUNCIL VP: SUZANNA WASSERMAN
Suzanna Wasserman joined The Shoppes at East Chase in November 2015 as the Marketing Manager. She is responsible for the marketing, communication and business development efforts of the shopping center. In addition to strategic marketing efforts, she handles media relations, branding, advertising, social media and website maintenance. She manages and oversees sponsorships, special events, charitable contributions, and more.
She has more than eight years of experience with marketing and public relations. Prior to joining The Shoppes at EastChase, she was the Marketing Director for Eastdale Mall, Distinguished Events Specialist for the American Cancer Society, as well as the Program Coordinator for Leadership Development at the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce.
Outside of her work with The Shoppes at EastChase, Suzanna is involved heavily in the Montgomery community. She currently holds leadership positions with the Junior League of Montgomery, and Child Protect, a Child Advocacy Center. She has also served on the Community Council for the River Region United Way, American Advertising Federation Board, Junior Executive Board for the American Cancer Society, Rebuilding Together Board and founded the Montgomery Chapter of the World Adult Kickball Association in 2011. She is also a graduate of the Inaugural Emerge Torchbearer’s Leadership Class, a program of Leadership Montgomery.
Suzanna attended Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Fine Art and Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing.
In her spare time, Suzanna enjoys going to see live music, painting, and fitness.
MEMBERSHIP VP: MARIE WISE STYLES
Marie Wise Styles, from Geneva County and Kinston Alabama, first moved to Montgomery to attend Huntingdon College, while a member of the Huntingdon Lady Hawks Volleyball Team. She then moved to Mobile Alabama to attend The University of South Alabama to study Mass Communication. Marie moved back to Montgomery in 1996 and began working in the growing Information Technology Field. Since then she has held a variety of lead roles in IT support systems and currently works for SMS Data Systems as a Plans & Programs Analyst.
Since joining The Junior League of Montgomery in 2008, Marie has enjoyed serving in many different roles. She was Chair of The Rummage Sale after being on the committee as Personnel and Ticket Chair. Marie has also served as Member-at-Large, Placement Chair, Make A Wish and Provisional Committees, House to House Committee, Fund Development, Community Research, Membership and Community Council and served as the Fund Development Chair for 2017.
Marie also currently volunteers with The Capri Theater and is on the board for the Jubilee Community Center, The Sanctuary.
Marie is married to Thomas Styles from Enterprise Alabama and they both enjoy attending events that interest them and finding any excuse to invite friends over to their home.
OPERATIONS VP: ALLISON PRILLAMAN
Allison grew up in Montgomery and graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing. She is currently a loan officer with Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation. She began her career in the industry 14 years ago and loves helping customers realize their dream of home ownership!
Allison has been a member of the Junior League of Montgomery since 2006. She initially served on multiple community placements before finding her niche on the Holiday Market committee. She served in various positions including Assistant Treasurer, Treasurer, Co-Chair and eventually the Chair. She has also served as the Fundraising VP, Corresponding Secretary and most recently the Community Council VP.
Allison is married to Nick Prillaman who is a Fixed Income Analyst/Portfolio Manager with the Retirement Systems of Alabama. They have one son, Walker, and will be welcoming a second little boy in August. They attend St John’s Episcopal Church and enjoy exploring the world together.
ADVISORY?STRATEGIC PLANNING CHAIR: YOLANDA POOLE
Yolanda E. Poole, a native of Montgomery, Alabama, received her primary education in the Montgomery Public School System. Upon graduation from Robert E. Lee High School she attended Alabama State University and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance. She later earned a Master of Business Administration Degree (MBA) from Troy University of Montgomery. She also earned a Master of Science Degree in Justice and Public Safety from Auburn University at Montgomery.
Since March 2010, the Social Security Administration of Montgomery has employed her as Social Insurance Claims Specialists. Her professional career began upon graduation from Alabama State University, at First Alabama Bank, now known as Regions Bank. She held several positions in her 22 year tenure. She is also licensed Funeral Director in the state of Alabama.
Yolanda joined the Junior League of Montgomery in 2015. She has served as Holiday Market Set-up Chair and completed a placement with Montgomery Aids Outreach (MOA). She was one of the 2017 recipients of the Women to Watch Award.
Her other civic activities include being a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated®. She is also a member Cosmopolite Civic Club and serves as the Treasurer. Yolanda enjoys reading, gardening, watching western movies and exercising.
GOVERNANCE CHAIR: TIFFANY MCCORD
Tiffany B. McCord is the Circuit Clerk for Montgomery County, Alabama. She is the first African-American to be elected as Circuit Clerk in Montgomery County. She is a graduate of Auburn University at Montgomery with a degree in History. She holds a Juris Doctorate Degree from Jones School of Law. Prior to practicing law, she served as Executive Director for the Montgomery County Bar Association. As such,she was the first African-American to hold the position of Executive Director of a bar association in the State of Alabama.
She has been admitted to practice law in the U.S. 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, the U.S.District Court for the Middle District of Alabama, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Alabama and the Alabama Supreme Court, as well as selected as Criminal Justice Act panel attorney for the U.S. District Court for the Middle District. She has over 16 years of legal experience, where she has tried cases in federal court, circuit court, district court and municipal court.
She was selected as Criminal Justice Act panel attorney for the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama, one of the youngest to ever be selected. Prior to opening her own practice in the City of Montgomery, Attorney McCord practiced law with the Federal Defenders Program, lnc. for the Middle District of Alabama. She has served the community as a volunteer mediator for many years.
Tiffany McCord is truly a public servant and exemplifies the premises of legal equality and justice for all. Her strong sense of community propels her to always seek opportunities where she can further serve her community.
She is married to Darris McCord and they have one child, Kristian.
NOMINATING CHAIR: VICTORIA BELTON
Victoria hails from Montgomery and is a 2004 graduate of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa where she received a degree in Marketing and Advertising.
Currently, Victoria L. Belton is an Account Executive with Stamp Idea Group, which is one of the premier advertising agencies in Alabama providing marketing services including branding, interactive, media, public relations and search marketing. As an account executive she has a variety of clients and projects many of which are tourism related. Currently, she is working toward her Tourism Marketing Professional certification which will be completed Spring 2019.
Victoria joined the league in 2010. Recently she served as the Nominating Co-chair. Prior to Nominating, she served as the 90th Anniversary Gala Co-Chair. She has also served on the Communications Council since 2012. During her time with the Communications Council she has done publicity for Taste of the River (2012 and 2013) and Shamrock Shuffle (2013 and 2014). During the 2013-2014 year, Victoria was the Publicity Chair for the League. In addition to serving with the Communications Council, she has also worked with the Montgomery Area Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy and Brantwood Children’s Home Placements.
In addition to Junior League, Victoria is actively involved with several community organizations in Montgomery. She is a former president of the Public Relations Council of Alabama. She also serves on the marketing committee for the River Region United Way. Victoria is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® – Beta Nu Omega Chapter where she recently served as the Ivy Leaf Reporter and Publicity Chair. Victoria was a graduate of the 2009 Inaugural Torchbearers Leadership Class.
In her spare time, she likes to shop, read and dabble with photography and as an avid football fan – you can find her at Bryant Denny on Saturday’s during football season – Roll Tide!
MEMBER AT LARGE: LAURA MAXEY
Laura Preston Maxey is a Certified Public Account (CPA) in the Special Projects department at ALFA Insurance.
Since joining the League, Laura has served on the Adullam House Committee, Community Council as co-chair of Impact Alabama, Meals on Wheels Committee, Assistant Treasurer/Treasurer, Member-at-Large and most recently she has held the roles of Placement Chair and Co-Chair. Other past community activities include acting as the Alumnae New Member Coordinator and Alumnae VP Finance for the Alpha Gamma Delta – Theta Beta Chapter, hosting college athletes for the Blue Grey Tennis Tournament, and serving as a Loaned Executive for United Way.
Laura is married to Stan Maxey, who is the owner of Value-Centers, LLC. They attend First United Methodist Church and have two Bichons named Gemma and Elle. In her spare time, Laura enjoys traveling, competing in obstacle races, and working out with her Club Pilates and Unleashed Potential Fitness families.
SUSTAINING ADVISOR: KIMBERLY BAKER
Kimberly is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry and spent her career out of college primarily in the healthcare industry. She advanced to Director of Sales and Marketing for a large ophthalmic surgical device company before moving to Montgomery to raise her family.
She is the Director of Development and Marketing for Valiant Cross Academy, an all-male school that transcends the challenges facing young African American males in Montgomery, Alabama.
Kimberly has served the Junior League in many different areas. She is a past President and has served as: President-Elect, Membership Council VP, Nominating Chair and Co-chair, and Member at Large as well as served on Community Research, Membership Council and Fund Development Committees. She has chaired and co-chaired Taste of the River Region. Kimberly has volunteered on and chaired various placements throughout the years such as Medical Outreach Ministries, DHR Back to School, ClefWorks, Brantwood Children’s Home and Impact Alabama.
In the community, Kimberly serves on the Hospice of Montgomery Board of Directors, Mercy House Board of Directors, and The Red Tail Scholarship Foundation Board of Directors. She has also served on the HandsOn River Region Board of Directors, Medical Aids Outreach Advisory Board, Montgomery Christian School Board of Directors, Montgomery Music Project Board of Directors, and is the past President, Vice President, Outreach Chair and Artistic Chair for the ClefWorks Board of Directors. She is a former United Way Big Sister, and Cancer Care Center volunteer. She is a member of the Montgomery Rotary Club and attends First United Methodist Church.
Kimberly enjoys any type of fitness she likes running, weight training and playing tennis. She has three beautiful children – Isabella, Benjamin and Liam.
RECORDING SECRETARY: TAKENYA ROGERS
Ta’Kenya Rogers grew up in Montgomery, Alabama. She graduated from Troy University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Currently, Takenya is the Operations Administrator for Legal Services Alabama. Before joining the Junior League, Ta’Kenya realized that she had a passion for volunteering. She has served in several volunteer capacities with organizations such as: the Montgomery Zoo, Eve’s Circle, The Special Olympics and The Family Sunshine Center.
In 2008, Ta’Kenya joined the Junior League so that she could impact even more lives. Since joining the League she has served on various committees including: Back to School Party Planners, Holiday Market – Silent Auction (twice), Cloverdale Playhouse, Habitat for Humanity, Impact Alabama and Chair and Co-chair of College and Career Night, as well as serving on the Board of Directors. Ta’Kenya’s favorite placement was Habitat for Humanity knowing that her hands actually help build a home for someone in need.
Outside of the League Ta’Kenya serves on the board of Helping Girls Succeed, Volunteers for Reading on Wheels and Helping A Wife Together.
Ta’Kenya is married to Willie Rogers and they have one son Kenton. Ta’Kenya enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling with her family, event planning and serving others.
