The Junior League of Montgomery(JLM), founded in 1925, comprises over 700 women volunteers. Our membership includes executives, community leaders, entrepreneurs, mothers, and many professional women from diverse backgrounds. Join us in fulfilling our mission of promoting volunteerism, developing women’s potential, and creating community impact through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.

Membership Requirements

Any woman who meets these requirements may join:

  • Has reached 22 years of age by June 1 of the League year in which the Provisional year will begin.
  • Lives within 35 miles of the  Montgomery area and not in a county designated as an admission area for another Junior League.
  • Has a strong interest in voluntarism.
  • Has a proven commitment to community service.
  • Has an interest in developing her potential for voluntary community participation.

Become a Member

How to join the Junior League of Montgomery:

  • Have a sponsor who is an eligible JLM member. If you need assistance identifying sponsors, we are happy to help. Please email us at information@jlmontgomery.org, and we will connect you with League sponsors.
  • Complete and return the JLM Prospective Member Form for the 2026-2027 league year.  
  • Pay Provisional dues of $198.00.

A Member’s first year is also a “Provisional” year, designed to provide a meaningful experience to learn more about the Junior League of Montgomery’s history and develop your potential as a leader. You will gain valuable skills to equip members to be effective volunteers and connect you with both like-minded women and other organizations committed to improving the Montgomery community.

Provisional experiences include small group meetings, training sessions, and hands-on volunteer opportunities that support our mission, as well as JLM functions such as General Membership Meetings, fundraisers, and socials.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

A candidate for membership must:

  1. Be at least 22 years old by June 1, 2026.
  2. Be able to fulfill the Provisional year requirements as outlined by the Provisional Leadership team.
  3. Be sponsored by a current JLM member (Active or Sustainer Member in good standing). *Sponsor Information available.
  4. The $198-Provisional course fee is paid when submitting your application.
  5. Demonstrate an interest in voluntarism and a commitment to community service and have an active interest in developing your potential as a volunteer and community leader.

Obligations during the  Provisional Year  include:

  • Complete the entire Provisional course;
  • Attend General Membership Meetings;
  • Volunteer your time at the Leagues fundraisers;
  • Complete a mini-placement;
  • Purchase Holiday Market tickets that can be sold to family and friends;

How to become an Active member:

  • Complete the entire Provisional course and obligations;
  • Pay annual dues.

Obligations of an Active Member:

  • Attend three General Membership Meetings per league year;
  • Attend two Education & Training Meetings per league year;
  • Pay annual dues;
  • Complete one Placement per league year;
  • Complete a Placement sign-up process in the Spring;
  • Complete a total of 16 volunteer hours at one or a combination of our fundraisers
  • Purchase $85.00 worth of Holiday Market tickets that can be sold to family and friends.
